February 1st and 3rd: On Tuesday we will be talk about Groundhogs Day, what is a groundhog, what is the tradition of this day. We will make predictions about when spring will come (and talk about what are the signs that spring is coming). We will also make a groundhog craft. Thursday we will talk about the Chinese New Year and how 2011 is the year of the rabbit. We will talk about the animals assigned to each year and play a fun game.
February 8th and 10th: The letter of the week is P. On Tuesday we will talk about popcorn. For our science segment we will discuss what makes dried kernels pop. Of course we will have popcorn for our snack and we will use popcorn to make our craft. On Thursday we will talk about Penguins and Panda Bears, we will talk about other black and white animals and how nature has many different colors.
February 15th and 17th: Q is our letter of the week. We will have a Valentines party on the 15th! I will send home a list of the students so each student will receive a valentine card from each member of the class. The Queen of Hearts will even be at the party!! Parents are asked to come the last 15 min of class for a class presentation and help distribute your child's valentines cards. For craft time each student will decorate a box to hold all their valentine cards. On Thursday we will talk about quilts and we will even make a mini quilt.
February 22nd ( February 24 there will be no school due to rodeo vacation): On Tuesday we will talk about the rodeo! Git er done cowboy! We are gonna rassel up some good ol cowboy games and eat some cowboy grub :) Each child will make a brand for themselves we will continue to identify shapes and signs.
